Mobile App Development
Mobile App Modernization
Apps age. Operating systems change, libraries go out of support and users expect more. We bring older apps up to date step by step, keeping the features and users you already have.
What we build
App audit
A review of code, dependencies, performance and store compliance, with a prioritised list.
Platform and library upgrades
Move to current iOS, Android and framework versions safely.
Interface refresh
Update the look and flow to current standards without confusing existing users.
Performance and stability fixes
Tackle slow screens, crashes and memory problems found in the audit.
Migration to a modern stack
Move from a legacy or abandoned framework to a maintained one when it makes sense.
How we approach Mobile App Modernization
We audit before we promise anything: dependencies, crash reports, performance, store compliance and how hard the code is to change. The findings become a ranked plan, usually fixing crashes and security issues first, then upgrading the platform and libraries, and only then refreshing the interface. Existing users keep their accounts and data throughout.
When this is a good fit
A good fit when
- The app still works but is slow, dated or hard to update.
- Store rules or OS updates are forcing a rebuild of parts of the app.
- The original developers are gone and the code is hard to follow.
How an engagement works
- 01
Scope
A free strategy call, then a clear proposal with scope and priorities.
- 02
Plan
A PRD and, where useful, a clickable prototype before building starts.
- 03
Build
An in-house team builds in stages, with demos along the way.
- 04
Launch and improve
Release, then keep improving with the people who built it.
Questions about Mobile App Modernization
Should we modernise or rebuild?
We audit first. If the structure is sound, upgrading is cheaper and safer. If not, we rebuild the weak parts and keep the rest.
Will existing users lose their data?
No. We plan data and account migration carefully and test upgrades from older versions before release.
Can you move us to Flutter or React Native?
Yes, where it makes sense. We compare the cost and benefit against upgrading the current native apps before recommending it.
